PEEK®1000PEEK 1000 (Polyetheretherketone), unfilled, extruded (Victrex® 450G PEEK™ resin)-manufactured by Ensinger Hyde is a general purpose grade PEEK™ product that is unreinforced and offers the highest elongation and toughness of all PEEK™ grades and offers resistance similar to PPS, but can operate at higher temperatures. PEEK™ 1000 offers steam and wear resistance and can be used continuously to 480°F (250°C) in hot water or steam without permanent loss in physical properties. For hostile environments, PEEK™ is a high strength alternative to fluoropolymers. PEEK™ carries a V-O flammability rating and exhibits very low smoke and toxic gas emission when exposed to flame. Black PEEK™ 1000 is ideal for instrument components where aesthetics are important, as well as for seal components where ductility and inertness are important. FeaturesOther attributes of PEEK 1000 products include: Very low moisture absorption, Excellent chemical resistance, Inherently good wear and abrasion resistance, Unaffected by continuous exposure to hot water or steam. Engineering specifications for PEEK 1000 Rod are: Tensile Strength: 16,000 psi, Compressive Strength: 20,000 psi, Water Absorption (saturation): 0.1%, Continuous Service Temperature in air: 480°F degrees (without load), Resistant to weak Acids, weak Alkalies, Ketones, Ethers, Esters (acetone), Hydrocarbons, Chlorinated solvents, Alcohols, inorganic salt solutions, and Flammability rating: UL94:V-O. Compliance: FDA, USDA, 3A-Dairy. Engineering Notes: The stiffness of all PEEK™ grades drops off significantly and expansion rate increases above its glass transition temperature (Tg) of 300°F (150°C). A material like Torlon® PAI would be better suited for close tolerance bearings or seals operating at temperatures higher than 300°F (150°C). ApplicationBlack PEEK™ 1000 is ideal for instrument components where aesthetics are important, as well as for seal components where ductility and inertness are important. |
